Investigation over ‘abhorrent’ George Baldock image at match
The club added that it “roundly condemns this abhorrent act”.
“We are working together with South Yorkshire Police on an immediate investigation and make it absolutely clear that there is no place in football or society for such appalling behaviour,” it added.
The image was allegedly taken during Sheffield United’s 1-0 Sky Bet Championship win against Wednesday at the Bramall Lane stadium on Sunday lunchtime, which had been the first time the clubs had played each other since Baldock’s death.
Baldock was born in Buckingham and started his career at Milton Keynes Dons in 2009. He represented Greece internationally and qualified through a grandparent.
