India vs England Live Score: England innings in a nutshell
Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja once again proved to be England’s nemesis, returning figures of 3 for 35 as India bowled out the visitors for 304 in the second ODI.
On a batting-friendly surface, England seemed set for a massive total at 200 for 3 in 35 overs.
However, Jadeja’s disciplined spell halted their momentum.
His first breakthrough came against an aggressive Ben Duckett (65 off 56), who miscued a wider delivery to mid-on.
He then dismissed Joe Root (69 off 72) for the fifth time in ODIs, luring him into an aerial shot straight to Virat Kohli at deep extra cover.
Jadeja ended his spell by removing Jamie Overton, who skied one to Shubman Gill at cover.
England’s lower order managed to push them past 300, thanks to Liam Livingstone’s brisk 41 off 32 and Adil Rashid’s five-ball 14.
However, three late run-outs cost them valuable runs.
England had started strongly, racing to 75 for 0 in 10 overs.
Duckett and Phil Salt found the gaps with ease, with Salt smashing the first six off Hardik Pandya.
However, India clawed back as wickets fell in quick succession.
Root and Harry Brook steadied the innings, but Jadeja’s brilliance ensured England fell short of a par total.
For England, Root and Duckett scored fifties while Livingstone hit 32-ball 41 late down the order.
For India, alongside Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Harshit Rana, Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakravarthy picked up a wicket apiece.
