Hate packing for your summer holiday? Some of the UK’s favourite budget airlines such as easyJet and Ryanair have strict hand luggage rules that might leave Britons struggling to fit everything they need.

According to new research from Asda Money, nearly 60 percent of Britons hate packing so much it causes a meltdown before a holiday.

For one in five British tourists, struggling to fit enough in their case is the biggest packing issue they face.

Asda Money has teamed up with expert packer and globetrotter Stephanie Parker to get her best packing advice.

Express.co.uk caught up with Stephanie to find out her best tips for fitting more in a small holiday suitcase.

Packing cubes

Stephanie said: “I absolutely love packing cubes. They’re so great for organising stuff and compressing items.”

Packing cubes can be a lifesaver if you’re struggling to fit everything in. Tourists can also put items away in the closet inside the cubes which will help to keep everything organised.

Capsule wardrobe

“I really try to think about a capsule wardrobe when I pack,” Stephanie told Express.co.uk.

She added: “When I pack, I’m taking stuff that’s versatile and taking colours that match as well. So you’re limiting the number of items that you need to take and making sure you’re going to wear everything.”

Wear heavy items on the plane

Stephanie advises wearing heavier items such as jackets or boots on the plane to minimise what needs to fit in your case.

Vacuum pack

Vacuum pack bags are a nifty alternative to packing cubes if you really want to maximise room in your suitcase.

“They’re literally just plastic bags that you can suck the air out of either and they often come with a little handheld pump.

“If you’re really struggling to fit stuff into your carry-on case, they’re amazing because they literally shrink-wrap everything.”

Ditch the large toiletries

Although some airports such as London City Airport now allow tourists to take bigger liquids abroad in their hand luggage, they’re still an unnecessary weight. Stephanie advises decanting larger products into small travel sized bottles.
