An age limit rule at Iceland stores gives shoppers a huge discount off their shopping every single week.
The supermarket chain offers 10% off to all UK customers aged 60 and over when shopping at its Iceland or The Food Warehouse stores.
Customers who meet this age criteria can bag the money-saving discount every single week, but only if they visit stores on a Tuesday.
The discount is also restricted to shoppers who have an Iceland Bonus card, so you’ll need to register for one of these loyalty cards to claim the 10% off.
Shoppers who are 60 and over, and have an Iceland Bonus card, simply need to show a valid ID at the checkout on a Tuesday to prove their age. This can include a senior bus pass, a driving licence, a senior railcard or a freedom pass.
The discount can’t be used for alcohol purchases in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales stores, and the 10% off only applies to purchases made in store, not online.
‘Bulk’ buys of six or more of any one product also don’t qualify for the discount and it excludes the purchase of carrier bags, Bonus Card savings and any selected in-store promotions.
The discount can only be applied once in a single transaction for shopping bought in store on a Tuesday.
If you don’t have an Iceland Bonus Card you can sign up online by downloading the app on the Apple or Google Play store, or you pick up a physical card in store and then register it online after.
Once you’ve registered you can add money to your card and you’ll earn £1 for every £20 you save. The card also grants you access to earn bonus rewards all year round, as well as exclusive offers, competitions and giveaways.
Savings can be spent in store or online, you just need to let the cashier know how much you’d like to spend and this will be taken off your bill.
Shoppers should be aware that Bonus cards, and any savings on them, expire if you don’t use them for 24 months so it’s worth using it regularly to make sure you don’t lose any remaining cash you’ve built up.
