The #23 Kentucky Wildcats are heavy favorites in this game, and it will be another good opportunity for head coach Mark Pope to get his team going and ready for the tougher games of the year. Kentucky features 18 quad 1 games on their schedule this year, according to KenPom rankings. Those quads could change as teams showcase who they really are, but it will be a tough test this year for the Wildcats, and they want to shake off any dust early in the season against Wright State and Bucknell.
Pope will feature a lineup as deep as any team in the country. He has four players who have scored over 1,000 points in college: Andrew Carr, Ansley Almonor, Amari Williams, and Lamont Butler. He has three really good freshmen, but they won’t see as much action this year because the team is loaded with veteran leadership.
In the exhibition games, Kentucky got off to slow starts before they settled in and began to dominate. Pope will want to see his team settle in quicker as these games actually count now and with Duke looming on Nov. 12. Find your ESPNU channel and watch the Wildcats in the season’s first game!
