Tennis returns with a bang on the 2025 sporting calendar with the first Grand Slam of the year as all eyes turn to the Australian Open.

The sport is primed for the next generation of stars to break out into the mainstream with three of the traditional big four players in the men’s game retired.

Novak Djokovic remains the sole member of the quartet vying for glory and has even recruited Andy Murray to be his coach.

That’s far from the only British involvement, with Katie Boulter, Emma Raducanu, Sonay Kartal, Jodie Burrage, Jack Draper, Cameron Norrie and Jacob Fearnley all involved in the main draw.

Djokovic is still among the favourites to win with a men’s record 10 Australian Open crowns – although he was defeated by last year’s champion Jannick Sinner in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff are the budding competitors in the women’s singles hoping to dethrone Aryna Sabalenka.
