There are six ITV races to enjoy this afternoon from Goodwood, Newmarket and Thirsk.
The bulk of the action is from HQ’s Premier Raceday, featuring the Group 1 Qipco 2,000 Guineas Stakes and supplemented by the Group 3 Palace House Stakes.
There is also a Listed Fillies’ Stakes from Goodwood and the Thirsk Hunt Cup from the North Yorkshire venue.

Cases could be made for several runners in a competitive race of this nature. DESERT COP is an each-way suggestion despite finishing last on his return to action on the all-weather at Kempton last month.
That effort will have served to blow away the cobwebs and getting on turf again is likely to suit a four-year-old who ran sixth in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot last year and now features off 94 in a Class 2 Handicap.
Andrew Balding is 9-37 in the past 14 days and Oisin Murphy continues a winning association in the saddle.
Selection: Desert Cop (each-way) @ 20/1 with Betfred
William Haggas trained the winner of this Listed Fillies’ contest through the four-year-old Awesometank in 2019, and his 2024 representative ORCHID BLOOM is considered one of the better betting options in a potentially trappy early-season contest on testing ground.
The selection improved to finish a close second in Listed company over 1m on heavy ground at Saint-Cloud on her previous outing last September and that effort makes her the clear percentage call.
Selection: Orchid Bloom @ 10/3 with Betfred
The favourite Torito, while a really likeable prospect, is short enough in the market on his first start in 317 days. David O’Meara’s representative THEORYOFEVERYTHING is the suggested each-way alternative, arriving 1lb well in after a promising return to action when third over 1f shorter on this course last month.
William Buick is taking over in the saddle and the combination have decent claims if only building slightly on that early-campaign promise.
Selection: Theoryofeverything (each-way) @ 13/2 with Betfred
PISANELLO ran third in this race on good to firm ground in April 2022 and a close second on soft going on his seasonal reappearance last May.
Mark Winn, who claimed 5lb on the gelding last year, only gets 3lb on this occasion, but the selection arrives suitably fresh and is only rated 4lb higher.
He may be able to race more prominently if breaking well from a lower draw, and is capable of being right in the mix once again.
Selection: Pisanello (each-way) @ 8/1 with Betfred
Charlie Hills trained the winner of this race through Khaadem in 2022, and his 2024 representative MITBAAHY makes plenty of appeal after his encouraging return to action when fourth in the Group 3 Abernant Stakes over 1f further on this course last month.
The son of Profitable is a likeably versatile sort in terms of ground requirements and is 4-13 over the minimum trip. Seven Palace House winners since 2014 were officially rated 106+ and the 109-rated five-year-old is considered the one to beat.
Selection: Mitbaahy @ 3/1 with Betfred
The price is not appealing but CITY OF TROY is unopposable in terms of form in the long-anticipated first Classic of the 2024 Flat season.
Aidan O’Brien, 4-25 in this contest in the past 10 years, is the trainer with most wins overall with a record 10 in a race that dates back to 1809, but few of his illustrious list of three-year-old stable stars have begun their most important season with such potential for dominance.
Unbeaten in three starts over 7f as a juvenile, this Justify colt achieved a formidable official mark of 125 and a Racing Post rating of 124. There should be more improvement to come back on this course over an extra furlong.
Selection: City Of Troy @ 4/6 with Betfred
