Prince Harry risks receiving a public backlash as he unveils future travel plans, despite his many remarks about saving the enviornment.
Upon arriving back in California following a three-day visit to Nigeria, Harry has spoke out about how “hugely important” travel is and reveals that he plans to do so more often.
Branding the trip to the African country as a success, Harry said: “It is hugely important for us to meet directly with people, supporting our causes and listening, in order to bring about solutions, support and positive change.”
Speaking to PEOPLE, Harry added: “There’s only so much one can do from home and over Zoom, so we look forward to traveling more because the work matters.
“Whether it’s the Archewell Foundation, Invictus or any of our other causes, there will always be reasons to meet the people at the heart of our work.”
Following his comments, Harry is likely to receive major criticism – especially after his comments in 2022 about air miles where he urged travellers to fly less.
Travalyst – a project founded by Harry which aimed at improving conservation and environmental protection – also once shared a newsletter telling people to take less trips and urging them to opt for economy class.
In response to previous criticism, Harry responded and claimed that he only does so very infrequently and in circumstances to keep his young family safe.
As well as travelling to Nigeria with Meghan last week, Harry first took a solo trip to the UK beforehand. Harry appeared at a special ceremony in London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games on May 8.
