The pod, which is part of the Health is Wealth Fitness Gym, was officially opened on Saturday, February 15, by Ray Gregory, the town’s deputy mayor.
The pod was made possible by funding from the UK Levelling Up Fund, which was secured by Claire Shepherd, a regular gym member.
Dale Wilson, the gym owner, said: “The support from the local community has been overwhelming.
“The pod will enable us to have a wide variety of classes in a modern and inviting environment.
“There will initially be a kettlebells class on Mondays at 6pm and we will be introducing Pilates, yoga, circuits, and chair-based exercises in the forthcoming weeks.”
Ray Gregory, the deputy mayor of Aspatria, was impressed with the pod, and recognises the benefits it provides to the community.
He said: “It’s an excellent facility and a great addition to the town.
“The building looks great although I think my kettlebell days are over.”
Mr Wilson is also keen to welcome other health and fitness instructors to use the pod, for a fee, to carry out their classes.
Those interested are advised to get in touch via email: info@healthiswealthfitnesscumbria.co.uk.
Mel Hanley, spokesperson for Aspatria Rugby Club, said: “The new fitness pod has been received well by all club members and players.
“We see it as a great addition to our existing fantastic facilities and our thanks go to all those who have made this project happen.”
Several businesses in the area have now also sponsored the fitness pod with a custom board on the exterior of the building.
Spaces on the board are limited to a maximum of 12, however, a couple are remaining.
Those interested are advised to check out the website for more information.
To learn more about the classes, they will be detailed on the gym’s Facebook and Instagram pages, plus on the website at healthiswealthfitnesscumbria.co.uk.
