GolfPlex in Bracknell, the golf entertainment facility encompassing Adventure Golf, Toptracer Range, FootGolf and indoor Sports Simulator, have been doing their bit for Prostate Cancer UK by participating in the Big Golf Race 2024 – but with a difference. They’ve completed 72 ‘virtual’ holes in one day!
Members of staff, Bayley Tustin, Vikki Trusler, Darren Johnson and Liam Poulson started the challenge early on Monday 10th June and 8 hours later had played all 18 holes at St Andrews Old Course, Pebble Beach Golf Links, PGA National Champion course and Pinehurst No 2.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer amongst males in the UK, with around 55,100 new cases every year. It accounts for 28% of all new cancer cases in males. With early diagnosis, it’s curable, but due to the lack of symptoms often goes undetected, with 12,000 males in the UK dying of the disease every year.
Talking of the initiative, Vikki Trusler said, “It’s great to be supporting this initiative and raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK. We don’t have a physical golf course, but participating on the virtual courses offered by Toptracer Range was the next best thing. While it saved on my legs, I still felt it in my arms after 72 holes!”
GolfPlex have retained a link on their website to Prostate Cancer UK’s free, 30 second Risk Checker – so males can check their own risk before booking an activity at the centre.
