The news was announced by Epic Games on X, alongside a preview of Chapter 6, Season 1.
“Prepare to hunt and slay demons!” reads an Epic tweet. “Downtime for v33.00 begins at 10 PM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”
Fortnite (including LEGO Fortnite, Creative, Battle Royale, Fortnite Festival, Save the World and Rocket Racing) is expected to remain offline all throughout the night.
Of course, there’s no official downtime schedule, which means Fortnite could remain offline even longer, potentially until midday. The server status website suggests it will run for eight hours, which means it should be back online by 11am.
The start of a new season also means a larger than usual download size for the new update, so make sure you have enough room to install the patch.
Once the game comes back online, you can start enjoying the new content, which includes a brand new map and a ton of rewards via the Battle Pass.
As part of the new season, players will be able to battle giant bosses like Godzilla and Kong. There’s also a demon arena, which is likely home to some of the best weapons and loot.
Battle Pass skins include Baymax from Big Hero 6, who even comes with a Samurai edit. Other Samurai-style characters will also be available in the Battle Pass.
Elsewhere, Epic Games will introduce new movement techniques, including wall jumping and rolling when landing.
The launch of the new chapter also coincides with the release of a streamlined reward system, where XP is earned across all Fortnite modes.
Likewise, Fortnite Crew members will receive all Battle Passes from each mode as part of their subscription.
