UK tourists heading to Morocco have been issued a stark warning by the Foreign Office after numerous reports of “difficulties” at airports.

British travellers are urged to ensure their passports meet two critical requirements to avoid any hiccups at the border.

While Brits can enjoy visa-free entry into Morocco for tourism purposes for stays under 90 days, they must still adhere to specific entry stipulations.

The Moroccan embassy in the UK has made it clear that visitors should have a minimum of three months remaining on their passport from the date of entry into Morocco, or risk being turned away at the border.

Additionally, the UK Foreign Office has highlighted two more passport conditions that have tripped up some tourists.

There have been instances of travellers being denied entry due to damaged passports and others facing problems when exiting Morocco because their passports lacked an entry stamp.

The Foreign Office guidance states: “Make sure your passport isn’t damaged. Some travellers have been refused entry when travelling on damaged passports,” reports Birmingham Live.

Furthermore, the advice continues: “When entering the country, make sure your passport is stamped. Some travellers have experienced difficulties leaving the country because their passport has no entry stamp.”

EasyJet has issued travel advice for Brits heading to Morocco, stating that due to local security regulations, all passengers, including those with only cabin bags, must visit the bag drop desk before proceeding through security on their return journey from Morocco.

Furthermore, enhanced security measures are being implemented on flights from Turkey, Tunisia, Jordan, Morocco and Egypt to the UK.

These additional checks will be carried out at the gate prior to boarding.
