Flights grounded at major UK airport after massive power failure
FLIGHTS have been grounded at a major UK airport because of a power failure.
Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport announced the major error – which affects air traffic control – shortly before 2pm.
Several flights were diverted to Manchester Airport.
At 3.10pm, the airport revealed the power issue had been fixed.
However, delays to flights are still expected – and holidaymakers are being told to contact their airline.
A spokesperson for the airport said: “Our engineers have resolved the earlier Air Traffic Control power issue, and aircraft operations have now resumed.
“There may be delays to your flight, please consult your airline for any further updates.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
A previous statement read: “Unfortunately a power failure is impacting Air Traffic Control & aircraft operations are temporarily suspended.”
