This European theme park has been described as unique and groundbreaking and transports visitors back to the olden days.
Puy du Fou in France has been voted as one of the top three theme parks in the country.
Winner of both the Thea Classic and Applause Awards, Puy du Fou started life as a standalone evening show called Le Cinéscénie. But since then, it has blossomed into a full theme park.
The company said it was a “world leader in creating spectacular historic shows and immersive experiences”.
In France, it showcases historical events such as the Roman Empire and figures like the patron saint of France, Joan of Arc.
Due to its popularity since opening in France in 1978, the theme park expanded into Spain in 2021, where it is operating today in Toledo.
During their visit, guests can go from show to show watching reinterpretations of moments from French history.
There is one ride, a small carousel in the Bourge 1900 village, but it’s merely an ‘extra’ in a park where the shows are the stars.
The park is continuing to expand across the globe, with China being next on the list and some plans for a new show in the US.
In 2023, the park also announced plans for its first UK site.
Olivier Strebelle, Puy du Fou’s chief executive, said the park, which would be based close to the M40, could employ up to 700 people once open.
He said: “We are not an attraction like you have ever experienced before. We do not have any rides or rollercoasters; there are no neon flashing lights.
“Instead, we create an authentic, natural and historical environment set within beautiful gardens, which become the setting for world-class shows and immersive cultural and historical experiences for the whole family to enjoy.”
“With Britain’s rich history, and with so many British people already visiting us in France and Spain, we have been looking for a site in the country for many years, and we have now identified the perfect location.”
