With stunning cities and charming towns aplenty, choosing an urban getaway in Europe can be quite overwhelming – let alone if you’re searching worldwide.
That’s why a new report has named the top city destinations in the world for travel, making it a little easier to understand the different factors that come into play during a holiday.
Euromonitor International has released its annual research into the best city breaks, and the results for the year are in.
The index evaluates 55 factors across six key areas: tourism performance, tourism infrastructure, tourism policy and attractiveness, health and safety, sustainability, and economic performance.
And for 2024, the capital of France, Paris, has retained its title as the world’s top city destination out of 100 contenders.
The City of Light was home to the Olympics this summer, saw Notre Dame’s reopening this weekend, and overall had more than 70 million visitors to boost its economy in the past year.
And judging by its reviews online, Paris has earned the title, with some tourists singing its praises as it was labelled an “amazing” destination and “a pleasure” to visit.
Tripadvisor reviewer Zafreen K said: “Visiting the Eiffel Tower any time of the day brings joy and excitement.
“Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with history in every corner of the place.”
NAGESH1972 added: “Enjoyed a lot with family my kids had a great fun. This is a lovely place weather is cool and days were long during our visit there are great historical places museum arts fashion theatre it is really wonderful and a great place.”
