Gary Lineker scolded Micah Richards for suggesting football could be ‘coming home’ during last night’s England coverage before banning the famous phrase.
Discussing England’s chances of winning the tournament, Richards said: “Harmony in the squad has been brilliant, just now with this emerging talent, if we could just bring it home…”
Lineker quickly interjected, saying: “Here we go… that’s banned, that’s bad luck that thing… don’t say it!”
The BBC host also banned Cesc Fabregas from comparing Jude Bellingham to Lionel Messi during the post-match analysis.
Asked if he had played with any young players who had already been deemed captain material, the Spaniard replied: “Messi, if we are allowed to talk about him.”
Lineker quickly shut down Fabregas while Rio Ferdinand pointed into the distance and said: “He’s way over there somewhere!”
