LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – New UK head men’s basketball coach Mark Pope has landed his first commitment out of the transfer portal since his hiring. One week after he was formally introduced to the Big Blue Nation, Drexel big man Amari Williams committed to Kentucky.
Williams, a six-foot-10 forward from Nottingham, England averaged 12.2 points per game, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists his senior year for the Dragons, playing in all 32 games. He averaged just shy of 23 minutes a game, shooting 51.7% from the field.
Williams was seen with Pope at Keeneland Saturday.
Williams joins 2024 signee Travis Perry, and class of 2022 player Collin Chandler, both guards who have not played college basketball yet.
