Tom Ford has unveiled a new campaign for its newest fragrance, Bois Pacifique, starring actor John David Washington and directed by British fashion photographer David Sims.
The company said it “captures the energy and freedom of fearless self-expression”.
The ad went live on Tuesday and presents a writer’s journey in the form of a film. In the film, Washington is “immersed in the majestic scenery of Big Sur in Northern California. His curiosity and insistence on unfettered creative freedom bring him closer to awe-inspiring light and transcendental places. In pursuit of inner peace, Washington embarks on an epic journey to a place where profound beauty and self-discovery intersect, where he finds himself in the power of ancient redwoods”.
Washington is a SAG and Golden Globe-nominated actor who made his first appearance as an actor in the hit HBO series ‘Ballers’ in 2015, and then starred in Spike Lee’s ‘BlacKkKlansman’, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and won him Golden Globe, SAG and NAACP Image Award nominations.
He’s also starred in ‘Tenet’, ‘Malcolm & Marie’, ‘Amsterdam’ and ‘The Creator’ as well as appearing on Broadway and currently starring in the Netflix adaptation of August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson.
It makes him a high-profile presence with plenty of bankability for both fashion and beauty campaigns.
The fragrance launched this month and we’re told it “explores the limitless freedom found in the vastness of nature”.
