We are looking for someone to join the Collections Care team as an objects Conservator. This role will be part of the team delivering conservation services to Birmingham Museums Trust (BMT) collections.
Permanent / Part Time
Hours: 22.2 per week
Salary: £17,047.47 per annum
Location: Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery / Museum Collection Centre
The role will carry out condition assessments, conservation treatments, conservation cleaning, environmental monitoring and creating object supports. The role will work closely with the conservation team, collections team and technicians.
The role will also work in a participatory way to engage BMT’s visitors and stakeholders with conservation and caring for collections through volunteer programmes, talks and handling sessions for example.

We are open to applications from those with conservation experience gained from an academic route or experience in conservation. We are looking for those who have achieved ACR status or are on the Pathway to achieve this recognition.
To succeed in this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

– Experience in undertaking environmental monitoring functions.
– Ability to prioritise and solve problems in a pragmatic way.

– Experience of working with volunteers and sharing conservation knowledge with a wider audience.
