Carlos Alcaraz match under threat as Coco Gauff accused of losing on purpose
There’s been no shortage of drama in Italy already this week with Carlos Alcaraz heading into today’s clash with Andrey Rublev in desperate need of a win. Defeat to Casper Ruud on Sunday has left the Spaniard’s hopes hanging by a thread, with his Russian opponent also on the brink following his defeat to Alezander Zverev.
Meanwhile, Zverev and Ruud will also face off, with the winner set to be as good as through from the John Newcombe Group. In the Ilie Nastase group, today is a rest day for players, but it’s world No.1 Jannik Sinner who again looks the man to beat, the only player to have notched two wins from two so far.
Elsewhere, the Billie Jean King Cup finals get underway in Malaga with Spain taking on Poland. Team GB get their campaign started with a clash against Germany on Friday, with Emma Raducanu set to make her return from injury.
