There’s simply nothing that beats the thrill of jetting off on a sun-soaked getaway.
Picture it – the joyous sensation of sunshine caressing your skin, soft sand between your toes and, of course, a delightful cocktail in hand. However, Benidorm lovers may have clocked onto a rather staggering revelation when it comes to the holiday booze.
A travel expert, who posts under the handle @benidorm_grumet on TikTok, recently dropped quite the bombshell regarding drink measures. Brits might gawp at the comparison as, apparently, our standard alcohol portions pale in comparison.
In a video, he quips: “There’s UK measures, and then there’s Benidorm measures.” He proceeds to showcase an alarmingly generous serving of alcohol, filling a glass halfway.
Benidorm-bound travellers be warned, or perhaps delighted, as it seems you’re in for a seriously boozy vacation.
People flocked to share their thoughts in the comments section, and it’s evident that several Brits harbour vivid stories from their Benidorm escapades.
One individual chimed in with: “I asked for a single when I was in a club in August. They said they don’t do singles – just doubles. So strong.”
Another user said: “Love Benidorm measures. You get proper drink at good prices.” A third wrote: “My kind of measure.” Meanwhile, another shared: “Omg flashbacks of that gin.”
Some punters were quick to highlight the size of ice cubes served in the drinks, suggesting it can make servings appear more generous. However, staunch fans of Benidorm dismissed such claims, with one individual even mentioning that bar staff don’t bother to measure spirits, as they simply just “pour” them.
Recently, a Benidorm pub owner urged tourists to think twice before indulging in the resort’s famously cheap pints. The local, known online as @frankthestagman, didn’t mince his words when it came to €1 pints, asserting: “Let me tell you something about drinks that you get for €1. They are absolute rubbish.”
Launching a scathing critique on Spanish watering holes offering €1 beers, he lambasted such promotions as “bottom of the barrel” tactics. Frank, advocating the wisdom of “you get what you pay for”, advised spending a bit more to avoid compromising on the quality of your drink.
The bargain tipples were branded “chemical horrible rubbish” by Frank, who warned that falling victim to a lousy pint might not just spoil a night out, but could potentially bring your entire vacation to its knees.
