Many people dream of going to Australia to see its world-famous beaches, but it is a very expensive plane ticket to travel to the other side of the world.
However, Britain also has beautiful beaches which have been compared to the golden Australian coastline so you do not have to go abroad to find somewhere speculator to visit.
Annabel Symonds, a travel expert and co-founder of Londoner in Sydney, has shared that Luskentyre Beach on Harris Island in Scotland looks eerily similar to Queensland Beach in Whitsundays, Australia.
She said: “That’s right, Luskentyre Beach on Harris Island in Scotland reminds us of one of the best beaches in the world.”
Luskentyre Beach is famous for its simmering clear turquoise water which gives the beach a tropical appearance despite being in Scotland and also has pristine white sand which creates a striking contrast against the water.
The sand is known for having a very soft, almost powdery texture, which adds to the beach’s beauty but is also incredibly comfortable to lounge on for anyone who wants to sunbathe, have a picnic or relax with a book.
Not to mention, the scenic backdrop of the Scottish rugged green hills in the distance makes Luskentyre Beach the perfect place to take a camera to snap some extraordinary photos.
Many people spend some time hiking to Beinn Dhubh, a group of nearby hills in order to get the best photograph of the beautiful blue waters.
Annabel said: “This Scottish beach has water so bright that you’ll think you’re sailing on the Whitsundays.
“If you’re lucky, you might even spot some seals and if you’re very lucky, see deer wandering around on this beach too.”
Seals are often seen basking on rocks close to the shore at Luskentyre Beach but may also spot dolphins, red deer or golden eagles making it a great place to sit and watch wildlife.
Luskentyre Beach has been named one of the top “most stunning” beaches in Europe according to Lonely Planet and has also been named the Beach of the Year in the Countryfile Magazine Awards.
It is located right next to the village of Luskentyre itself, a small quiet place dotted with white stone brick cottages where locals sometimes offer horseback riding along the beach.
The beach also has a beach hut shop which sells drinks and ice cream but also gifts and artwork if you wish to see some local crafts. plus it is also near the Cake Shed cafe which sells homemade cakes and scones.
Luskentyre Beach is also near the town of Tarbert, the main ferry port of Harris where there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops and even the famous Isle of Harris Distillery to explore.
What makes Luskentyre Beach such a great place to visit is that it is less crowded than most other famous beaches, so you can enjoy the sights in peace without any disturbance.
If you wish to visit somewhere extraordinary that feels like an Australian holiday without the price tag attached then Luskentyre Beach is definitely worth a visit at least once.
