The summer holidays are here and yet, we’re all dreading the crowds. 

But head towards a little gem known as ‘mini Mykonos’ and escape the overcrowded Mediterranean islands such as Santorini, Crete and Corfu.

Hidden on Spain’s southern coast, it’s the perfect place to unwind and won’t have you worried about spending a fortune. 

La Isleta del Moro, in Almeria, Andalucia, boasts a stunning postcard view of Spanish, with blue and white houses dotting the landscape.

It’s also a part of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, with breathtaking sea views. 

And it’s truly an escape from the crowds, with just 170 people living in the tiny village. 

The tiny village maintains its fishing tradition. Instagrammable fishing boats are aplenty, with a heap of boat tours and watersports.

Grab a kayak in the shallow waters or plunge in with diving and snorkelling options.

Hiking enthusiasts will find nearby mountains to trek (when it’s not so humid and outside of the midday sun).

Those who prefer to stay horizontal on the beach can do so at Playa Los Escullos, Playa del Embarcadero and the Cala del Carnaje.
