Warmer days are here at last, and here’s what we can expect for August
After weeks of cool and unsettled weather, we are now experiencing some warmer days in Merseyside and beyond. The mercury is expected to rise to 24C in Liverpool today, with a jump to 26C on Friday.
Unfortunately for those who enjoy hotter days, things are then set to turn milder this weekend, with showers on Saturday and some sunny spells on Sunday, but with maximum temperatures of 19C. Looking ahead from Monday, July 22, we can then expect plenty of rain up until Wednesday, July 24.
For the period from July 22-31, the Met Office in its long-range UK forecast predicts that “conditions will be overall changeable and similar to patterns that have dominated July so far”. Experts add that “showers and occasional spells of more persistent rain are likely to affect all regions at times”.
Looking ahead to August, the Met Office has said “there remains a slightly increased chance of more settled spells of weather developing at times, particularly in the south”. But there is still a “substantial chance” of other weather types.

The forecast adds: “Through the period as a whole, drier than average conditions are more likely than wetter than average. Warmer than average conditions are also weakly favoured overall, with a slightly enhanced likelihood of short-lived hot spells.”
Elsewhere, experts at Accuweather predict August will begin with a mini heatwave in Liverpool, with a cluster of warm and sunny days forecast from August 1-4. Maximum temperatures are set to vary between 22C and 25C during this period.
After this, its forecast states, there’ll be some showery days, and some varied weather, but with highs floating around the 22C mark until Friday, August 16. It is then expected to turn cooler, with more rain and cloud.
