Arsenal vs Southampton: Latest team news, predicted lineup and injuries

Arsenal are awaiting updates on Jurrien Timber and Ben White ahead of their Premier League meeting with Southampton this weekend.

The Gunners eased to a hugely impressive 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Timber continued at right-back that evening have also impressed on the left this season but was forced off at half-time. Mikel Arteta later revealed it was a muscle problem that forced the change with Jakub Kiwior brought onto replace him with Riccardo Calafiori shifting over to right-back.

Mikel Arteta will provide a further update on the Dutchman on Friday but there were positive signs with Timber spotted walking comfortably through the mixed zone after the game, also stopping to sign autographs.

‘He’s been out for a year and he’s played a lot of minutes, probably more minutes than we would have wanted in the past few weeks and we have to manage him,’ Arteta said on Wednesday night with hope there was no fresh issue.

White meanwhile has missed the last three games against Leicester City, Bolton and PSG amid reports he is dealing with a groin issue.

It is unclear at this stage if he will be available this weekend.

Elsewhere, Mikel Merino made his debut for the club, coming off the bench and helping see out the win over PSG.

The Spain international suffered a shoulder injury in his very first training session with the club but is in contention for a full debut this weekend.
