Argos customers should instead return the products for a full refund
Argos shoppers who have purchased any of a number of items are being warned not to use them and instead return the products to store for a full refund. Under UK law retailers have to pull products from sale if there are any potential safety risks, and a number of products sold by Argos are currently being recalled.
Earlier this month Mattel pulled its Dumbbell toy sold with the Fisher-Price Baby Biceps Gift Set – Model GJD49 from sale, with the product sold between June 2020 and November 2022, at Argos stores and online. An Argos safety notice advises: “[Mattel] are aware of a small number of the grey end cap of the dumbbell toy coming off, posing a choking hazard to infants.
“If you have bought one of these products, stop using it immediately and contact Fisher-Price by phone at 01628500303 or by email through [this link] for information on how to return and receive a refund for the dumbbell toy.

Alternatively, customers with the item may return the product to their nearest store. Argos advice continues: “This recall only involves the dumbbell toy that is part of the Baby Biceps Gift Set.

“The kettlebell toy, protein shake toy, and headband are not recalled and may be kept by consumers. No other Fisher-Price products are affected.”
Elsewhere Argos also continues to recall the CocoMelon JJ Interactive Doll, which was pulled from sale by manufacturers Just Play due to the following manufacturing defect: “If a child presses the sewn seams of the doll with sufficient force, the seams could give way making it possible for the child to access the stuffing material inside.
“If removed, this stuffing material could present a choking hazard.” Affected items have the Cat Number 9588671, and Barcode Number 8056379128359, and the product was sold by Argos between August 1, 2022, and November 24, 2023.
An Argos notice updated earlier this summer reads: “If you own a CocoMelon JJ Interactive Doll please STOP using it immediately and return it to your local Argos store for a full refund. You do not need a receipt. Just Play wish to thank you for your cooperation and apologise for any inconvenience. If you have any questions, please contact Just Play’s customer service team at customerservice@justsplayproducts.com or 0800 102 6885.”
And the retailer continues to remind customers that Hyper Toy Company Ltd has pulled its Range Rover Evoque 12v Pink from sale, with the product available from Argos between December 16, 2023, and April 25, 2024. A recall notice adds: “A potential safety concern has been identified, where a number of products have been produced without a fuse.
“There is a chance this could result in a short circuit of the wiring. In some cases, this could result in wires melting producing smoke and possibly a fire. Please stop using the toy immediately, check if you have an affected batch and if so, return it to your local Argos store for a full refund.
“Argos would like to apologise to customers affected by this recall for any inconvenience this may cause. No other Hyper Toy Company Ltd products are affected by this recall.”
Affected items have the Cat Number 9564293, P/O No 129721 and Batch: HBI0002596. Customers who require more information can call the free helpline on 0800 0113 462 between 8am-8pm, Monday to Sunday.
