Andrej Stojakovic commits to Cal
Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats are continuing to build a roster for the 2024-25 season.
However, that won’t include Stanford transfer Andrej Stojakovic, who has committed to the California Golden Bears.
On3’s Joe Tipton broke the news first.
Stojakovic is the son of former NBA player Peja Stojakovic and was getting interest from a number of schools, including UNC, Louisville, Michigan, and Creighton. Kentucky and Cal were his two finalists.
The former 5-star recruit was a McDonald’s All-American ranked as the No. 25 overall player in the 2023 class when he committed to Stanford.
As a freshman, he averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game. He also shot 40.9% from the field and 32.7% from three.
His best performance of the season came against USC when he had 20 points on 8/12 shooting (4/7 from 3) in a victory.
Stojakovic has a ton of potential and is someone who could develop into a go-to scorer if he is more involved in the offense, and as we all saw at BYU, Pope knows how to coach great offense.
Alas, we won’t see this happen in Lexington with Stojakovic.
