Barring a major collapse, the Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball teams will make the NCAA Tournament this season. But just how high of a seed will they earn?

According to ESPN’s Bracketologists, both programs are on pace to earn a 3-seed. Joe Lunardi has Mark Pope and the Kentucky men taking on 14-seed Northern Colorado in the opening round in Wichita, KS. Meanwhile, Charlie Creme has Kenny Brooks and the Kentucky women hosting the first two rounds in Lexington with a first-round matchup against Norfolk State.

The men’s team is set for a possible second-round game against the winner of 6-seed Arizona and 11-seed Pittsburgh/Nebraska. The women’s team would be looking at a second-round matchup against the winner of 6-seed Georgia Tech and 11-seed Iowa State/Washington. A reminder that the 11 seeds in the NCAA Tournament must play their way into the field.

Looking at the men’s bracket, Kentucky is one of 12 SEC teams expected to make the tournament, the most of any conference. Joining UK in Lunardi’s projected bracket are Auburn (1-seed), Alabama (1), Florida (2), Tennessee (2), Mississippi State (4), Ole Miss (4), Texas A&M (5), Missouri (7), Georgia (8), Vanderbilt (10), and Oklahoma (10). Texas is among the “First Four Out” group.

As for the women’s bracket, Kentucky is one of 10 SEC teams listed, which is second only to the Big Ten’s 13 representatives. Along with UK, Creme also has South Carolina (1-seed), Texas (2), LSU (2), Oklahoma (4), Tennessee (5), Alabama (5), Ole Miss (6), Vanderbilt (7), and Mississippi State (8) making the tournament. Florida is among the “Next Four Out” group.

There is still plenty of season left, but the basketball in Lexington is quite good right now.
