Antonio Reeves is about to embark on his journey to playing in the NBA. But first, he stepped onto the Rupp Arena floor one last time.
On Friday, Reeves graduated from the University of Kentucky with a major in communications. He’s one of four men’s basketball players to graduate this spring, joining Tre Mitchell, Kareem Watkins, and Brennan Canada, who received his master’s degree.
Reeves walked across the stage at Rupp for the final time, pumping his fists after receiving his diploma. For anyone who’s watched him play the last two seasons in a Wildcat uniform, you can’t help but smile.
After starting his college career at Illinois State for three years, Reeves transferred to Kentucky during the 2022 offseason. He immediately made an impact off the bench in 2022-23, registering 14.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game for the Wildcats under former head coach John Calipari, even winning SEC Sixth Man of the Year.
But what he’ll remembered by the Big Blue Nation for best is what he did in 2023-24.
Reeves developed himself an All-American this past season, averaging 20.2 points (the most by one player under Calipari at UK) and 4.2 rebounds in 31.4 minutes per outing. His shooting splits were borderline unbelievable: 51.2 percent from the floor, 44.7 percent from deep, and 86.3 percent from the line. Reeves was tabbed Third Team All-American by multiple outlets and also made All-SEC First Team.
With a quiet personality, Reeves’ game did all the talking for him. His floater became unguardable and you had faith that every three-point attempt was going to fall. You won’t find a pretty jump shot in all of college basketball. Simply put, he was mesmerizing to watch with the ball in his hands.
The BBN won’t forget you anytime soon, Antonio. Now go make us even more proud and tear up the NBA.
A total of 122 current and former UK athletes expect to graduate this spring or during the summer term. Below is the complete list.
