Chaos has erupted at Gatwick Airport with passengers stranded on grounded planes queueing for the runway.
Planes are being diverted after an aircraft, possibly from British Airways, stalled on the busy runway at the London airport this afternoon.
Pictures and videos posted online show a queue of aircraft stuck on the tarmac as they wait for the problem to be resolved. Meanwhile footage has emerged showing several fire engines racing to the scene.
Holidaymaker Tom Strawbridge said: “Plane stuck on / blocking the runway at Gatwick. Nothing in or out as it stands, been this way for around 20 mins now.”
