The school summer holidays are soon approaching and if you’re planning a day out with the kids we guess that a day at the beach is on the agenda.
While there are plenty of beaches to choose from in and around the UK sometimes we have to travel quite a distance to find a nice one.
However, new research has found which beaches Brits aren’t loving so much. This is according to Preply, who have looked at Tripadvisor reviews to find the top 10 most disappointing beaches in the UK.
Researchers created a list of the nation’s top 20 most popular and famous beaches. They were then analysed by the number of one, two and three-star reviews to determine the results.

Blackpool Beach has likes of its fun-filled Pleasure Beach theme park for visitors.
However, 13 percent of visitors weren’t as thrilled with their visit to this tourist hotspot. The disappointed reviews pointed to the overcrowdedness of the beach, particularly during the summer months.

Percentage of disappointing reviews: 14 percent
Camber Sands might be a favourite for many, but according to just under one in six reviewers, it has its downsides. Disappointing reviews of Camber Sands mentioned the seagulls, pinching more than their fair share of chips.

Skegness is a classic British seaside destination, with attractions such as Butlins, Fantasy Island, and of course, the beach.
While for the most part reviews of Skegness Beach pointed to a positive experience, some people were left feeling underwhelmed by their seaside visit.

Surprisingly, the 17 percent of disappointing reviews of Formby Beach point to its lack of red squirrels! The spot, advertised as a red squirrel hotspot, reportedly has fewer of them roaming around than some visitors were expecting.

Nearly 20 percent of this beach’s reviews were disappointing, mostly pointing out the steep parking prices and muddy car park. That being said, despite its flaws, this beach is still one of the UK’s most picturesque spots, making it certainly worth visiting.
