A new study from the team at Time Out has found the cities with the world’s best food by asking its expert Time Out Market chefs for their opinion.
While the UK just missed out on a spot in the top 10 ranking, there’s plenty to get you ready to book that next holiday overseas.

Indian cuisine is probably one of the most popular around the globe so it’s no surprise to see Mumbai make this list. Kunal Bhatia, Mumbai writer, said: “Mumbai’s food scene is reflective of the city’s diversity, with ingredients and flavours from across India and the world”.
The city’s must-eat dish is the vada pav – a deep fried potato dumpling stuffed in a bread roll, accompanied by red and green chutney.
The Malaysian capital is “a big, delicious melting pot” according to Time Out and its food scene draws from Malay, Chinese and Indian culture. The city’s night markets are a must-do if you visit Kuala Lumpur and you might struggle to order from just one stall.
Nasi lemak is the city’s must-eat dish – coconut milk rice, crispy anchovies, cucumber and boiled egg.
