ITV’s Joan is the latest true crime drama to have us (and everyone else) obsessed. The six-part series is based on the memoir of one of Britain’s most notorious thieves Joan Hannington (played by Sophie Turner in the series), who stole millions of pounds worth of diamonds and jewels in the 1980s.
The first episode aired on Sunday evening (29th September) and saw a young Joan leave her daughter Kelly in care, in order for her to safe from her abusive ex, before she moved to London, stole her first jewels and met the man who would become her husband one day Boisie Hannington.
At the end of the episode, before the credits roll a pop up appears on the screen sharing a dedication to Martin Maynard. So who was Martin Maynard? Here’s what you need to know about the man the first episode of Joan was dedicated to.
Martin Maynard’s name appears at the end of the first episode of Joan before the credits rolled.
According to his IMDb, Martin was an actor and worked in the props department on various projects.
He had a number of short roles in series such as Casualty, The Bill and Hustle. It’s believed he worked in the props department for ITV’s Joan.
However, it has not been revealed at which point in production Martin passed away, but it’s clear he was remembered fondly by the cast and crew of Joan.
