When are the Grand National weights published for 2025 Aintree race?
The Aintree Grand National is the biggest race on the calendar bar none.
The 2025 edition is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 5th April but the build up to the big event begins now.
It is a race capable of producing shocks thanks to its huge field, testing jumps and status as a handicap.
The weight is a key factor as carrying a lighter load than your rivals can make all the difference.
The horse carrying the most weight will be the highest rated in the British handicapper’s opinion – and last year’s winner, I Am Maximus, could be given the honour.

When are the Grand National 2025 weights announced?
The handicapper’s ratings are crucial in deciding which horses stand their ground and make the field.
The highest weight a horse can carry in the Grand National is 11st 12lbs, while the lowest weight is 10st 2lbs.
The Grand National weights are published on Tuesday, 11th February.
This is a vital date as no penalties can be incurred afterwards.
How much weight did the Grand National 2024 winner carry?
I Am Maximus carried 11st 6lbs off a rating of 159 to victory in last year’s renewal.
