Beyoncé has a Christmas treat for us all, giving us the gift of an epic festive performance.
While the rest of us will be rummaging around the Quality Street, the NFL will play two games—it may be Christmas Day, but they’re not ones to pass up on the viewership.
Joining them, Grammy-winning superstar Beyoncé will perform as the halftime act during the second game, which will mark only the fourth time a game has been played today since 1948.
Having already teased fans with a 30-second trailer titled A Cowboy Carter Christmas, Beyoncé, 43, is expected to perform songs from her latest hit album.
She may also throw in some classic festive tunes—and the best part is, we’ll all be able to watch… but only for a limited time.
Fortunately for Beyoncé fans everywhere, Netflix has acquired the global rights to the seasonal NFL matches.
Those who have an active Netflix subscription will be able to tune in for both games and performances.
For fans in the US, CBS will simultaneously broadcast both games on affiliate networks in Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Houston.
Those who subscribe to NFL+ will also be able to watch on mobile devices.
However, you’ll have to be quick…
Things will kick off with the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1pm ET (6pm GMT) before the Baltimore Ravens play Houston Texans at 4:30pm ET (9:30pm GMT).
Beyoncé will take to the stage – well, field – during the Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans halftime, which takes place in her hometown of Houston at the NRG Stadium.
It’s been reported that both NFL games and the halftime show will only be available for viewing in the US on Netflix three hours after the matches end.
This is due to the streaming giant’s agreement with the football organisation.
Therefore, viewers will only have until 11pm ET that night to watch the whole stream.
For UK fans, the nocturnal among you are in luck, as this gives us until 4am to relive the action.
While undoubtedly a real treat for the eyes, Beyoncé’s performance will, sadly, not be the same length as a full Super Bowl halftime show.
She’s no stranger to those, of course, having headlined the sought-after gig in 2013 and joined Coldplay’s set as a surprise addition in 2016.
Meanwhile, NFL halftime tends to last 12 to 14 minutes, in contrast to the Super Bowl’s 25 minutes, which allows crew plenty of time to assemble a stage before performers belt out career-spanning medleys with special guests.
TMZ previously reported that the NFL would give Beyoncé a 20-minute halftime window. However, her publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, said that was ‘untrue’.
Unfortunately for us, the star’s set ‘will not be 20 minutes.’
Instead, it’s predicted she will be on the field for around 10-12 minutes.
Watch Beyoncé’s NFL halftime show on Christmas Day on Netflix.
