Two friends from Kent are driving vintage tractors 1,500 miles (2,414km) around the UK to raise money for charity.

Steve Saunders and Danny Chamberlain, both from West Kingsdown, are raising funds for Ellenor, a hospice in north Kent, in their Massey Ferguson 135s.

Mr Chamberlain left Kent on 8 September and Mr Saunders left the day after – both heading towards to Wales.

Both men described their separate journeys as an “amazing experience”.

Mr Chamberlain, who has been to Ireland as well as Scotland and Wales, expects to be back in Kent on Sunday or Monday.

Mr Saunders, a farmer, who is taking the journey at a more leisurely pace, is in north-east England and expecting to return home the weekend after.

Mr Chamberlain travelled over the Irish Sea to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Mr Saunders stayed on dry land.

Mr Chamberlain said: “I’ve met so many wonderful people along the route and raised a lot for a worthwhile charity.”

Mr Saunders said: “I have hand-built a shepherd’s hut to serve as my humble abode. “This personal trek is not just about covering distances, it’s about spreading hope and support for those in need.”

The men have so far raised a combined £3,600 for the hospice.
