Kentucky opened Southeastern Conference play with a big win over the sixth-ranked Florida Gators on Saturday, and Mark Pope was ecstatic about it. Pope opened his postgame press conference by saying, “That was just an elite level, physicality, bloodbath, competitive, just incredible performance after incredible performance going down the line. A great game. It’s like, how fun is this SEC league going to be? I mean, just incredible.”
Incredible indeed. From there, Pope took questions about Andrew Carr, Otega Oweh, Koby Brea, Lamont Butler and Amari Williams, who were the game’s standouts, and coaching his first game in the SEC. Rupp Arena was another topic. Pope said, “BBN was ridiculous tonight.”
