Athletes acquired points from the 14 Diamond League regular season meets between April and September to qualify for the final in Brussels on 13 and 14 September.
Across the 32 track and field events, the top six in the field events, the top eight for 100m through 800m on the track and the top 10 for distances 1500m and longer qualified to take part.
In addition to winning the Diamond Trophy, each of the 32 champions will receive £24,000 in prize money.
The action is taking place at the 50-000 capacity King Baudouin Stadium, with 16 finals each day.
