Are you ready to relive Sunday yet? Me too. The geniuses at UK Sports Video just dropped a behind-the-scenes video of Mark Pope’s introductory press conference and it’s just as awesome as you’d hope.
The video crew followed Pope as he drove to Rupp, including the moment he jumped out and greeted fans who were waiting in line. We finally get a glimpse of what happened inside the bus as Pope and former players waited to drive onto the Rupp Arena floor to recreate the iconic 1996 national championship celebration. I can’t believe there was actually a debate about who should carry the trophy.
Enough words from me. Hit play below and get ready to tear up again. What a special day.
While Pope was preparing to make his entrance, the Big Blue Nation was buzzing in Rupp Arena. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out Steven Peake’s sights and sounds feature on the atmosphere inside Rupp as fans waited to see the captain of the Untouchables take the floor. It’s as close as you’ll come to being there.
