The northern lights have been spotted dancing above Fortrose, in a new clip taken by a Ross-shire Journal reader.
Ross-shire local Garry Mackay captured the purple and green aurora borealis above Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club in the early hours of Tuesday (August 13).

Stargazers from across the UK spotted the strong aurora display on August 13, with hundreds of images being shared across social media of the celestial treat.
