Mark Pope and his Kentucky coaching staff have landed its third commitment of the weekend as 6-foot-11 forward and Wake Forest transfer Andrew Carr committed to the Wildcats Sunday.

“Excited to announce I am transferring to the University of Kentucky for my graduate season,” Carr wrote on Instagram announcing his commitment. “I know what it means to wear Kentucky across my chest and couldn’t be more ready to get to work!! Go Cats!”

His commitment comes after a weekend visit to Lexington. He chose the Cats over Texas Tech and Villanova.

Carr started his college career at Delaware, where he averaged 10.2 points per game as a true freshman during the 2020-21 season. As a sophomore, he helped lead the Blue Hens to a CAA Tournament title as he averaged 10.0 points per game, 5.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 56.4 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from three.

He earned All-CAA Tournament team honors. Carr transferred to Wake Forest ahead of his junior season of 2022-23, and in his debut season in Winston Salem, he started all 33 games averaging 10.7 points per game, 6.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 48.9 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from three.

This past season, Carr started all 35 games for the Demon Deacons and averaged a career-high 13.5 points per game, 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. He shot 52.6 percent from the field, 37.1 percent from three and 78.1 percent from the free throw line.

Carr scored a season-high 31 points in a season-ending loss to Georgia in the NIT and went for 28 in a loss to eventual Final Four qualifier NC State.

The 6-foot-11 forward has one year of remaining eligibility.

His commitment comes after UK landed San Diego State transfer Lamont Butler Friday and Oklahoma transfer Otega Oweh Saturday. He is the fourth transfer total added so far by Pope and his staff, as Drexel transfer Amari Williams committed to the Cats last week.

UK is now up to six scholarship players on its 2024-25 roster with Carr, Butler, Oweh, Williams, and incoming freshmen Collin Chandler and Travis Perry.
