Evelyne Piegay will step down from her role as Europe sales director for Japanese lingerie and swimwear group Wacoal. She has been in office for 24 years, and will be replaced by Edwin Van den Bergh, who has been with the lingerie group for 22 years, notably working on the northern European markets.
Wacoal Europe has recently acquired British lingerie retailer Bravissimo, which operates 26 stores in Europe and one in the USA, and is a long-standing distributor of the Wacoal group’s Elomi, Fantasie and Freya brands.
“Edwin’s proven ability to build strong relationships and deep knowledge of our customers make him the ideal successor to Evelyne. His passion for our mission, combined with his commitment to exceptional service, will strengthen Wacoal’s presence in Europe, and we are excited to move forward with him at the helm,” said Wacoal.
The group, which thanked Piegay for “her unparalleled commitment over the years,” also announced the appointment of Rémi Bergonzoli as chief legal officer of Wacoal Europe. Bergonzoli has been working with the group for seven years, and was previously in charge of financial controlling for Europe.
For fiscal 2023, the Wacoal group reported a revenue of ¥187 billion (€1.19 billion), on par with the previous year. The Wacoal brand in Japan accounted for 55% of total revenue, while the group’s overseas markets accounted for 36.2%. Another 5.7% was generated by the Peach John brand. Lingerie and underwear accounted for 79% of the group’s business.
