Positive end-of-year reports from many-a-shopping centre reflect how well the UK sector has performed in 2024. And Victoria Leeds, owned and operated by Redical, has joined them following its “strongest ever footfall figures” at Victoria Gate. It was also boosted by two new store openings across the destination.
Celebrating what is expected to be “the most successful year for footfall in its eight-year history”, Victoria Gate is up 15% compared to the centre’s previously busiest footfall year of 2019. An additional 850,000 people have been through the centre’s doors in 2024, and it’s now on target to achieve a million more visitors than that 2019 marker by the end of the year.
Bolstering this stellar performance at the retail destination, is the opening of two new stores, one from British leather bag brand, Cambridge Satchel, and the other for Nordic-inspired home décor retailer, Northhome.
Signifying a regional debut, Cambridge Satchel has opened its third UK boutique in the historic Victoria Quarter. The 881 sq ft store, located on County Arcade, features a range of women’s and men’s collections, including its well-known satchels, handbags, backpacks, and briefcases.
Rachel Bradburn, Leasing director at Victoria Leeds, said: “2024 is revealing itself to be a standout year for us, welcoming a number of incredible new brands across the centre, working with existing brands to facilitate growth opportunities and seeing footfall at Victoria Gate reach new heights. The latest openings of Cambridge Satchel and Northhome reflect these accomplishments.”
