As winter approaches and the UK braces for cold weather, a travel influencer has unveiled Porto in Portugal as a hidden gem that offers affordable luxuries, sunshine, and a perfect escape for those seeking a budget-friendly holiday.
In a TikTok video that has quickly garnered attention, Rob Adcock praised Porto as an “underrated holiday destination” and encouraged viewers to add it to their travel bucket lists.
Adcock questioned why more people aren’t talking about Porto, especially given how cheap it is to travel there.
He revealed that return flights to the Portuguese city can be found for as little as £26, with the journey taking just under two hours.
“If you haven’t been, you need to get it on your list,” he urged his followers.
What makes Porto even more appealing, according to Adcock, is the low cost of living.
He was astonished by how little he spent during his stay, confessing, “I took €100 in cash, and I’m struggling to spend it.”
One of his favorite budget-friendly finds was beer, which cost him around £1.20 in cafes and as little as 77p in supermarkets.
“It’s ridiculous,” he said, adding that the food was also incredibly affordable.
Adcock shared a hilarious anecdote about a “translation issue” when ordering food, which resulted in him and a friend accidentally receiving three whole chickens and a mountain of chips—all for just £18.
He joked that the portion size was “actually embarrassing.”
Beyond the affordability, Adcock highlighted the pleasant weather in Porto, even in the heart of winter. While the UK was covered in snow, Porto enjoyed mild temperatures, with the lowest being around 14C in December.
“The weather is sound,” he noted, sharing footage of his sun-soaked trip.
Adcock was also impressed by how easy it was to navigate the city, citing efficient public transport links.
He and his travel companion managed to find a two-bedroom apartment in the heart of Porto for just £32, which he described as “modern” and “well-decorated.”
For those looking to plan a trip, he recommended using Skyscanner and being flexible with dates to score the best deals on flights.
