Music is an important part of many people’s lives. Your favourite songs can transport you to a time and a place, and many people’s memories come with a song attached to them.
Of course, there are so many popular genres of music, but some musicians manage to capture the hearts of a generation – and that’s exactly what the UK’s richest musician did, thanks to their skill.
When you think of the UK’s richest musician, who is it that first pops into your mind? Is it Ed Sheeran? Or maybe Elton John? Or perhaps even the Gallagher brothers, who have recently announced their comeback tour as 90s Britpop band Oasis.
It’s none of the above, and the UK’s richest musician is actually worth more than Noel and Liam Gallagher combined.
Ed Sheeran has a net worth of around £300 million, and first found real commercial fame after he released the song ‘A Team’ on his debut studio album + (Plus). He previously had released five EPs independently.
This, however, does not make him the richest musician in the UK.
Elton John has a net worth of £650 million, and he’s sold more than 300 million albums worldwide, so much of his wealth is the result of his brilliant musical career which spans decades.
However, he’s not the most wealthy musician in the UK, despite his popularity, fame and fortune.
And when it comes to the Gallagher brothers, it’s reported that Noel Gallagher’s net worth is in the region of $70 million (£53 million). Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher’s net worth is thought to be around $6 million (£4.6 million), largely because he doesn’t receive as much income from royalties as Noel, according to Moneyweek.
Have you had any more thoughts about who the richest UK musician is? If you guessed it was The Beatles’ Paul McCartney, then you were correct.
As of May 2024, Paul McCartney’s net worth is £1 billion ($1.3 billion), making him the first billionaire musician in the United Kingdom. This net worth also makes him one of the richest musicians in the world.
Not only was he incredibly successful while in the Liverpool band The Beatles, but he is also one of the most popular solo performers of all time, both in record sales and attendance at his concerts.
He is a vocalist, songwriter, composer, bass player, poet, and painter, and has recently enjoyed a popular solo tour. As he’s been releasing music for 68 years, we’re not surprised he’s so successful!
