Leamington Spa is a gem of the Midlands and absolutely worth taking a day trip to. The royal town is known for its white washed buildings that make it look more like London.
It has a great selection of independent shops, restaurants and cafes to explore – and is super close to a major UK motorway, not that you can tell from walking around this peaceful little place.
You’ll also find a large park which is its main attraction – it features cafes, flowers, a variety of wildlife and even hosts events throughout the seasons.
The town is located not far from Warwick and can be reached in minutes from there by train or can also be reached easily by car. It is also just minutes from the M40, which connects London, Birminghamd and Oxford.
After World War Two, the town underwent many changes due to the damage it encountered. Historic buildings in the town underwent complete reconstructions in an attempt to save them.
If you’re visiting by train or walking around the park, it’s likely you’ll see the Royal Plump Rooms. This building stands out, at the front it features pillars and hanging baskets which draw your eye to the beautiful building.
It first opened in July 1814 and was originally a spa which was used to carry out medical treatments. Today it is used to host events which can be booked online.
If you’re looking to have a bite to eat in the area, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
One great restaurant is Lacoppola. This Italian can’t be missed as you walk by – its decor is eye-catching with plants hung from the ceiling throughout. Make sure to book in advance as this restaurant is in high demand.
One guest on Tripadvisor said: “This place is everything a restaurant should be. It has a beautiful interior, wonderful service with a fantastic menu and the food is sublime. There is nothing to fault here.”
