Durdle Door in Dorset has been revealed as the most Instagrammable beach in the UK by the no deposit bonus codes guide, NoDepositRewards.
The guide examined 50 of the most popular beaches in the UK to find out which destinations are the most Instagrammable.
The total number of hashtagged posts was calculated by combining the three most popular hashtags for each beach before ranking each destination from most to least Instagrammable.
Durdle Door is one of the most photographed landmarks in the UK and is a part of the historic Jurassic Coast.
The UNESCO World Heritage site is located on the Lulworth Estate in South Dorset and is known for its beautiful crystal-clear waters and natural limestone arch.
The beach itself is a pebble and shingle beach which can be accessed via a path and steps from the top of Lulworth Cove.
Unsurprisingly, Durdle Door has racked up an impressive amount of posts on Instagram, featuring in 324,322 posts.
Mason Jones, a spokesperson for NoDepositRewards said: “With Durdle Door attracting more than 750,000 visitors each year, it is no surprise that it is also the most Instagrammable.
“With miles of stunning Jurassic coastline and a limestone arch standing at an impressive 200 feet tall, Durdle Door is the most scenic beach and the perfect location for a UK staycation.”
The iconic beach and landmark is the perfect destination to enjoy breathtaking sunsets and a picnic by the sea.
Visitors who are willing to scavenge and scour the shingles might be lucky enough to spot a fossil. The Jurassic Coast is famous for its fossils with the nearby beach of Lyme Regis being particularly popular with fossil hunters.
Durdle Door isn’t the only notable attraction nearby. The beautiful Lulworth Cove, famous for its crystal-clear waters and rounded cove, is just 10 minutes down the road.
For a quieter break, visitors could try Man O’War Beach, a sheltered bay with dramatic cliffs and a more rugged beach.
However, over the years, Durdle Door has become the subject of criticism due to its popularity and parking charges.
One Trip Advisor user who named their review “ruined heritage site by greed” described the attraction as a “cash grab”.
Darren said: “£10 to park! It’s been going up year on year with no changes or upgrades to anything. Just a cash grab, awful behaviour. I won’t be going again.”
Another said: “The challenging walk is nothing compared to the large volume of disrespectful people who totally spoil it for everyone else. I’m glad I went. However, I will never go back. Our beautiful English coastline is being eroded in more ways than one.”
A third user wrote: “Picturesque but be warned that the car park is hugely expensive and the unmade stony path to the sight is very steep and slippery.”
However, some users claimed it was an “amazing” attraction. Anjan posted: “The views [are] amazing and we like it. The best view can be seen from the right side of the door. Love it. I will go again and again. It’s like heaven.”
Kelly wrote: “A visit to Durdle Door is an absolute must if you are in the area, it’s a stunning spot and so unique.”
