Three British military American football players were invited as honoured guests for the NFL Academy’s match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Sergeant Glenn Smith of the RAF, Lance Corporal Ryan Nash from the Army and the Royal Navy’s Air Engineering Technician Rob Taylor were invited to take part in the pre-game walkouts and national anthems.
The NFL Academy side was playing high school team De La Salle and the three British serviceman all play American football for their individual services and are currently in the midst of the Inter Services tournament.
“The noise alone – your heart skips a beat!” said AET Taylor. “We’re stood there with this boom around you. It’s really cool.”
The match itself saw De La Salle run out 31-9 winners with running backs Derrick Blanche Jr and Dominic Kelley both scoring two touchdowns.
