One popular city in the UK recognised as one of the “most walkable” in the world has been praised for its cleanliness.
Beautiful cities and towns in the UK are well-known for presenting great conditions for travellers wanting to explore them on foot.
Notably, one destination has secured a top position on a detailed list of the world’s most walkable cities for 2024.
According to the investing site Insider Monkey, Liverpool ranks twelfth and it seems it does not fail to captivate visitors with its cultural appeal and beautiful landmarks either.
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool is easy to explore by walking because it boasts numerous museums, galleries, and historic sites, such as the Albert Dock and the Beatles Story, which are all conveniently located close to each other.
Recent investments in urban development have further enhanced walkability, creating inviting public spaces and improving infrastructure for pedestrians, who also have excellent public transport options at their disposal.
This seems to have been the case for quite some time, with Tripadvisor reviews from as far back as 16 years ago highlighting Liverpool’s walkability.
Back in 2008, when Liverpool was named the European City of Culture, Millymor70 wrote: “I spent last weekend there, the streets and tourist areas were spotless, no rubbish anywhere, it was a real pleasure to see, and even the buildings seem to shine.
“I found the trip on the Ferry to be most educational, and well worth the one hour ride, it rained all the time, but we sat inside with a cup of tea, and felt quite sorry when we finally docked and had to get off.
“I would recommend a stay in Liverpool to all ages, and I plan on going back in the next week or two.”
Sue K penned: “We walked the city and never felt the need to hop in a taxi once, something to see on every corner, cant wait to return.”
Labelling the northwestern maritime city a “capital of culture”, CoffeeCultureLover said: “Wow was I impressed with Liverpool! A complete shopping mecca and loads of shops there.”
