Gatwick Airport has confirmed a series of new flights ahead of the Christmas holidays with additional services to key destinations.
The update will see 11 new services launching ahead of the Christmas break with 10 destinations covered.
Additional flights will be made available to Rovaniemi and Ivalo in Finland – popular stops for those heading to Lapland.
According to Gatwick, the new planes will complement existing flights to both destinations giving passengers extra choices.
Services will be run by Norwegian to Rovaniemi with British Airways covering the route to Ivalo.
Added to the current numbers, there are now 28 flights per week departing London for Lapland in one of the busiest times for the land of Santa.
However, Gatwick has also embraced a range of new destinations with short-haul flights to Evenes (Norway), Luxor (Egypt), and Brest (France) now available.
Luxor is a vital destination for tourists, with the airport based just 45 minutes from the Valley of the Kings, the burial site of former pharaohs such as the famous boy king Tutankhamun.
Two of the Luxor services will be run by easyjet within a third available through TUI.
New flights have also been confirmed for those looking for a bit of winter sun with routes heading to Cyprus and the Dominican Republic.
Meanwhile, a new service to ski destination Chambery in France is set to get underway from 14 December.
Stephanie Wear, VP Aviation Development at London Gatwick said: “It’s fantastic that London Gatwick can offer passengers such an exciting range of destinations this winter, whether for holidays, visiting family and friends at Christmas, or business trips.
“As London Gatwick continues to grow, we are delighted to continue build our already extensive network and provide passengers with outstanding choice and competition, as we work towards our vision of becoming the airport for everyone, whatever your journey.”
